Writer - Peter Dabbene
As revealed by researchers in 2012, the now-common text-speak acronym OMG (for Oh My God) seems to have originated a century ago, in a 1917 letter from Lord John Fisher to Winston Churchill. Churchill's response, seeking to allay Fisher's war concerns and also demonstrating early versions of other staples of the 21st century lexicon, was lost until recently discovered by Decasp's own Historian in Chief Peter Dabbene.
Below is Fisher's original letter, along with Churchill's reply, which shows Winston's previously unknown, cheeky, sometimes sophomoric sense of humor, as well as his snarky handling of Fisher, a known "frenemy".
